1. Installation

Here is a root structure displaying where each file should go. Alternatively, if your zip archiver supports directory structure, just unzip the UT2004 folder to the base of your hard drive (usual installation location) and it'll all be set up for you ready to play.

2. Move it, dirtbag!

Start up UT2004, then choose Instant Action and under the mutators list select and activate the Ripper mutator. Don't forget to choose which skin you want and whether to start with the Ripper when you spawn in the mutator config menu. Choose which map you would like to play on, and get ready to shred!

3. Ripper2k4? Any relation to the original Unreal Tournament..?

Oh yes, indeed! Ripper2k4 is a port of UT1's original Ripper, but obviously with some changes, since it would seem a bit "sterile" just to repeat what UT1 did. The normal mutator replaces the Minigun, but you can also configure whether to be given the Ripper when you spawn.
I took the original Ripper model from Epic plus the blade texture, changed it a bit and then stuck it on a blade mesh. Daedalus vastly improved the original model upping the polygon count from 400 to 2200 (~) and then developed two new hi-res skins for it.

Oh yes, headshots are in too, so aim high! (It's also easier than ever to take your own head off too..)
We hope you enjoy playing with it, it was certainly fun to make. :-)

4. Setting up a server

If you would like to run the Ripper on your server, you'll need to add this to your ServerPackages list in UT2004.ini:

ServerPackages=Ripper

You can then run a server through UT2004 with the mutator active or use UCC. UCC's syntax for this mod would be like this:

ucc server dm-mapname?mutator=ripper.ripp​ermut/rippergivemut +++ plus any extra parameters

Note that in UT2004 the package will auto-add itself to ServerPackages if you use the mutator while hosting a game in Windows. I'm not sure if it does this in Linux or Macintosh OSes, but it's certainly handy.

5. Any bugs?
